DST : Session 0 – prequel
For their show at the project space Fokidos in Athens (02/29/2016-03/24/2016), the artists Margarita Athanasiou and Lito Kattou presented the installation Domestic Survival Tutorials: Session 1, digital embroidery on textile, copper rail, digital printed sticker, offset printing.
The video DST : Session 0 – prequel is a renegotiation of the material Margarita Athanasiou and Lito Kattou were working with for the production of the works for the exhibition at Fokidos. The material now composes a new work, and part of it is presented here.Στην έκθεσή τους με τίτλο «Domestic Survival Tutorial: SESSION 1» που παρουσιάστηκε στο διαμέρισμα-project space Fokidos στην Αθήνα (29/02/2016-24/03/2016), οι εικαστικοί Μαργαρίτα Αθανασίου και Λητώ Κάττου παρουσίασαν μια εγκατάσταση που περιλάμβανε φασόν κέντημα σε ύφασμα, χάλκινους σωλήνες, αυτοκόλλητο σε ψηφιακή εκτύπωση και εκτύπωση offset.
Tο βίντεο «DST: Session 0-prequel» που δημιουργήθηκε ειδικά για την στήλη-συλλογή Meta . Data επαναδιαπραγμεύεται το υλικό με το οποίο δούλευαν η Μαργαρίτα Αθανασίου και η Λητώ Κάττου για την παραγωγή των έργων της έκθεσης στην Φωκίδος. Το υλικό συντέθηκε σ’ ένα νέο έργο μέρος του οποίου παρουσιάζεται εδώ.
THE EXHIBITION:
Domestic Survival Tutorials: Session 1 by Margarita Athanasiou and Lito Kattou is an open house to explore domestic space as a network between virtual subjects and actual objects. A bronze rail runs through the apartment, from the kitchen to the living-room while a medieval story about love and friendship, ageing and isolation unreels. The garments that rest on the rails, perhaps the costumes of the story’s characters, feature embroidered fragments of domestic utilitarian objects. Clothes protect and project but they also function as tools for the body to manage space. They represent the creation of a space for the body, a body already boxed in the actual space of the fokidos apartment.
